E-RYT 500 RYS 200
Lynn was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. She has always been intrigued by the human body, and when she turned 6 years old, her Mom enrolled her into a performing arts school where she started practicing ballet. When she graduated from high school, she applied for an audition at the University of Cape Town's (U.C.T) dance teacher's training program. After years of hard work, she graduated from University receiving her teacher's certification in dance. She then decided to pursue other working opportunities, and put her dance teaching career on hold.
Several years later, after being involved in several types of work, she ended up working in a corporate field that proved to be extremely demanding and unfulfilling. It was during this time, that Lynn believes yoga found her. In 2008, her friend recommended that she should attend a yoga class. After lots of thought and contemplation, she decided one Saturday morning to challenge herself to attend a yoga class for the very first time. She was amazed by the way she found herself feeling after that very first class, and went back for more every week. After a few months, she noticed changes happening with herself. Her temperament changed. There was less or no reaction to things or situations that would usually upset her. She had far more energy, could sleep better, and noticed how her body started changing. She felt stronger in her body, more focused, and had a lot more confidence in herself. From then on, she knew yoga would always be a very big part of her life.
Being intrigued by the practice, she started exploring other styles of yoga and found herself very drawn to "Power yoga". Two years later, she signed up for Ashtanga yoga teacher training with "It's Yoga", also known as "It's Yoga International" in Cape Town, South Africa. She started teaching soon after her graduation in Cape Town, and had the opportunity to travel and teach in Korea and Okinawa. It was in Okinawa where she found her teaching style developing and evolving into a stronger passion. She felt there was more to learn, and invested in a 300 hour teacher training program in Okinawa to enhance her student and teaching journey. Her journey as a practitioner and teacher has progressed to where everything is intention focused.
Lynn designs classes to challenge her students. She loves teaching, and enjoys watching students grow in their practice as they develop strength, confidence and purpose. This is essentially what drove her to become a teacher.
Lynn has become really passionate about teaching private instruction classes. She revels in the personal approach and interaction with the student as well as witnessing them achieve their goals whatever they may be.
She also enjoys teaching relaxing Yin yoga classes and is also certified in Sup yoga. She believes you need to get out of your head and into your body and swears by her mantra "Twist your mind, your body can do it!"
